Volkanovski, TKO, Round 4
First of all, man that's sad to not see Oliveira fight, I really wanted him to get his chance for revenge. That being said, Islam vs. Volk is so great and I love to see that fight so much sooner than I thought we would. I think the short notice fight plays more into Volk's cards than it does disadvantage him. Volk has his eyes on that rematch since february and I'm sure he's already spent hundrets of hours thinking about the adjustments he's gonna make in the rematch. Also he stays in shape pretty much throughout the year. And I am pretty sure knowing he isn't gonna fight this year at featherweight anymore he already prepared a bit for the case someone pulls out in that fight.
Islam on the other hand needs to switch his whole gameplan up for Volkanovski as Charles is most dangerous in the clinch and from his back, while Volk is great at striking from the distance and going in and out, creating openings and finding his shots and his grappling is way more of a wrestling approach than Charles' BJJ. I think Volk's got a great chance to pull it off and to maybe even finish Islam, considering that he's having been in there with Islam for 25 minutes already and has got one of the greatest fight IQs in the game in order to make the right adjustments.

Oliveira Case was a very bad decision to make hard sparring before a flight, but MMA fighters rarely foresee the risk of injuries and in Brazil it is even more noticeable. The cut was really serious, but it was 100% avoidable.

Does Charles wait it out until he gets to fight whoever is champ or does he still fight in this year to keep his claim fresh in our minds ?

Personally, it could be good to see Charles x Gamrot in Brazil, but I don't know how many days Oliveira will need in order to deal with his injury.

Islam Makhachev
I'm a huge fan of Alexander Volkanovski. But if he wants to win this match, he will have to do it via stoppage. The time is on the side of Islam Makachev. There will be people boosting him all over the stadium. Most importantly, he's a pressure fighter in wrestling. Khabib scolded him live on camera on phone call last time when he fought Volk for the first time. He would have definitely went to the gym & watched his fight back & worked on the mistakes he had made. Also, I don't want to go the judges & scorecard side. Anything can happen on the scorecard. So, there's no way I'm gonna take the risk. I'm picking Islam Makachev for this one. I'm hoping that Alex wins but the time is on the side of Islam, I just feel that way. If miracle happens, then Volk will knock this guy out. Otherwise, there's no way Volk's going to beat him on the scorecard.
