I think Iaquinta has a lot of potential, but he leaves his chin up in the air a bit much. Pearson will tag him, but he'll survive the fight.

Good fight, this should be a fun one. The whole card has a lot of potential right now, I always love the down under UFC cards though.

Will be a very fun fight but seems like a bit of a step down for Pearson and probably derailing Iaquinta again after he got caught by Clarke. Oh well though.

Wow I am surprised that Pearson is favored this much by the community. I think Al has the perfect style to give him some trouble. Tough in your face wrestler with decent striking and some power. Pearson has the advantage in striking but if Al can mix in his wrestling he can take it. This is a really close fight IMO.

Honestly I don't think Iaquinta has what I'd call decent striking. He's an okay wrestler and he might get Pearson to the mat, but I don't see him holding him down, which is basically his only hope. I mean, he's molasses-level slow on the feet, you can see his shots coming from a mile away. Plus, he reaches so far out of balance with his shots. And he doesn't throw combinations enough, too many pot shots.

Iaquinta will reach way too far and get countered every time. Not sure Pearson can knock him out, but Iaquinta is getting hit a lot tonight.

Ranking-wise, Ross Pearson is taking a step down in competition after putting away Gray Maynard emphatically. Iaquinta is the heavier-handed fighter and the better grappler but the fight should stay standing with Pearson’s good takedown defense and Iaquinta’s proneness to being submitted (all three of his losses are via submission). Perhaps the biggest difference is Pearson’s speedier hands and more technical striking game as he should pick Iaquinta apart and provided he avoids a huge punch from the American, he should win handily.

"Honestly I don't think Iaquinta has what I'd call decent striking."

Decent striking to me is a pretty wide open term. Basically everything between terrible and awesome lol. Just saying he doesn't suck at striking.

@MMA_Pockwar I think Al has a pretty good advantage grappling and wrestling, but I agree with your breakdown. Ross should be able to pick Al apart on the feet so long as he isn't worried about the TD.

Ross Pearson > Sotiropoulos, Ryan Couture, Diego Sanchez(except to 2 dumbass judges), Gray Maynard
Al Iaquinta < Mitch Clarke

Al Iaquinta > Ross Pearson

Basically what I'm trying to say is by MMAth Mitch Clarke is a top 10 lightweight or something.

I thought Ross would win by KO or a decision on a count of he looked great in his past few fights, I thought if Iaquinta won it would be by submission I was surprised to see him go toe to toe and win by KO that was awesome.

Great fight from Al. His striking looked really good. I think Ross has some really good striking and Al took it to him.
