Yabushita's background is in Judo. She has competed and placed in several national and world Judo tournaments. Yabushita has fought in numerous organizations, most notably in Smackgirl, Jewels, Valkyrie, and Pancrase. She has fought the best of the best in WMMA including Marloes Coenen, Erin Toughill, Hitomi Akano, Roxanne Modafferi, Tara LaRosaLisa Ellis Ward, Julia Berezikova, Emi Fujino, Shayna Baszler, Rin Nakai, Sarah Kaufman and Shizuka Sugiyama.

She started her career in the 2000 ReMix Openweight Tournament, winning 2 fights before losing in the finals to Marloes Coenen. Yabushita then ran into a rough patch losing 3 more fights to the likes of Marloes Coenen and Erin Toughill. She got back on track with 3 straight wins including a notable victory over Hitomi Akano before entering the 2004 Smackgirl World ReMix Openweight Queen Tournament. She beat Shannon Hooper in the opening round and Roxanne Modafferi in the semifinals. In the finals she won by DQ due to illegal elbows over Erin Toughill to become the Smackgirl Openweight champion.

Yabushita would lose her next fight to Tara LaRosa outside of Smackgirls. She would then return to Smackgirls to participate in their first Middleweight Queen Tournament. She won in the opening round by armbar but lost a decision in the finals to Laura D'Auguste. Yabushita would then fall into a losing streak losing 3 more fights, including losses to D'Auguste again and a rematch with Modafferi. During the streak she lost her Openweight title to Amanda Buckner. She would bounce back with 2 wins including one against Mayumi Aoki.

Yabushita then entered K-Grace's $10,000 Openweight Tournament. She won in the first round by armbar in :17. In the semifinals she had her grudge match with Modafferi, losing by decision. She would then go on a 1-5 slump before picking up back to back wins.

Yabushita entered the Freestyle Cage Fighting Women's Bantamweight Grand Prix where she lost to grappling specialist Shayna Baszler by twister in the opening round. Yabushita is currently riding a 5 fight losing streak with losses to Rin Nakai, Sarah Kaufman, and Shizuka Sugiyama.

Yabushita holds a Submission grappling record of 1-1 with both matches coming during the 2007 Smackgirl Middleweight Grappling Queen Tournament. She made it to the finals before losing by rear naked choke.

She holds a dismal record in Kickboxing and Shoot Boxing with a combined record of 1-10-1.
